This year, we’re thrilled to honor Samantha Mellott, Mortgage Banker at our Long Meadow branch in Washington County, Maryland, as our 2024 Employee of the Year.
Samantha joined CNB more than four years ago, bringing with her a decade of banking experience—including time at a large national institution. She quickly distinguished herself not only through outstanding performance, but also by building genuine, lasting connections with our community members.
“Working for a community bank like CNB is a completely different experience,” she says. “I love meeting new people and getting involved with local organizations. Everything we do is rooted in the needs of the people we serve.”
In 2023, Samantha closed over $27 million in residential loans—a personal milestone that helped earn her this well-deserved recognition. But for Samantha, it’s not about the numbers. It’s about doing the right thing for every customer, every time.
“I stay motivated by treating every customer the way I’d want to be treated,” she explains. “I’m quick, thorough, and stick to the timelines I set. And above all, I try to bring positive energy to every interaction.”
When asked what she enjoys most about CNB, Samantha doesn’t hesitate: “The people. The teamwork. The fact that local decisions are made here. I can pick up the phone and talk to senior leadership directly. It makes a huge difference for our customers.”
For those just starting out in banking, Samantha’s advice is simple: “Be a sponge. This business is always evolving, and every day is a chance to learn something new.”
